This co-sponsored screening of the documentary CHOSEN is part of the 17th Annual Korean American Film Festival New York (KAFFNY), running from November 8 to 13, 2023 in-person and online. Preceding CHOSEN will be the international premier of the short film THE TEMPLE OF NON-DUALITY.
Join Thirdworld Newsreel and the Documentary Forum at CCNY for a screening and discussion of the documentary “In Search of Bengali Harlem,” with director and author Vivek Bald.
Films in this year’s CUNY Shorts Showcase, part of the 46th Asian American International Film Festival deal with topics/genres including: the Filipino American diaspora in New York City, social roles of women during 1920s Japan, an interview with musician Takuya Nakamura, gambling addiction, and the fetishization of Japanese women.
The CUNY AAFF helps to promote the artistic visual talents and stimulate communication among CUNY students who are separated by the different campuses, and serve as a central location to display their creative works. Past participants have also had their films screened at the Asian American International Film Festival.
Join us for a screening of the feature documentary, In Search of Bengali Harlem, directed by Vivek Bald and Alaudin Ullah. After the screening there will be a panel discussion with the co-directors and Bangladeshi artists, organizers, and community members including Nahar Alam, Nadia Q. Ahmad, DRUM (Desis Rising Up and Moving), and S. Nadia Hussain (moderator).
