We invite students, scholars, organizers and artists from all backgrounds to submit proposals that investigate what the recent victory of Zohran Mamdani as mayor reveals about the future of Asian American identity, the intersection of class and race, and the evolving strategies of civic engagement in an increasingly polarized era.
The Asian American / Asian Research Institute’s 2025 symposium, co-organized with NYU Steinhardt, will explore the intersections of identity, culture, history, and systemic factors in shaping mental health experiences within Asian and Asian American communities.
We invite students, scholars, and/or practitioners, within and outside of CUNY, to share their innovative research and creative works, pedagogical projects, programmatic efforts, models for organizing and activism, and other activities at CUNY that address critical issues in Asian American studies and/or communities.
For this symposium, AAARI has invited students, scholars, community organizers, and/or practitioners to share their innovative research and creative works, pedagogical projects, programmatic efforts, and other activities that address the broad scope of “AAPI Identities.”
