AAARI 25th Annual Gala (2026)
Join us in celebrating a milestone quarter-century of impact. As part of The City University of New York, the Asian American / Asian Research Institute marks its 25th anniversary with a landmark fundraising gala convening over 300 esteemed community leaders, advocates, and supporters. This special evening will honor visionary leaders and pioneers in research, education, and advocacy that uplifts the Asian American Pacific Islander community across New York. We will also honor outstanding CUNY students who represent the future leadership of our community.
2026 Betty Lee Sung Research Endowment Fund
Betty Lee Sung, co-founder of the Asian American / Asian Research Institute (AAARI), Professor Emerita, City College of New York, and recipient of the 2017 Association for Asian American Studies Lifetime Achievement Award, has established an endowment of $100,000 at the City University of New York to create a research fund under the auspices of AAARI, on Asian American topics. The fund is intended to support the research by providing funds for a research assistant, copywriter, research travel, acquisition or access to research material and similar costs so that the researcher can complete the project.
2026 CUNY Thomas Tam Scholarship
The Tam Scholarship is awarded annually to a qualified CUNY undergraduate student (Asian or non-Asian) who demonstrates creativity in raising awareness about issues facing the Asian American community.
2026 Dr. K. York & M. Noelle Chynn CUNY Ethics and Morality Essay Contest
The CUNY Ethics and Morality Essay Contest is funded by an endowment gift of $100,000 to the City University of New York from the late Dr. K. York Chynn and Noelle Chynn. This annual award promotes and stimulates thinking by CUNY students to reflect on ethics, morality, and virtuous in their daily lives.
Public Comments: Decennial Census of the Population of Americans; Proposed Residence Criteria and Proposed Regulations for Demographic Questions
The Census Bureau is proposing to add two new parts to the Code of Federal Regulations governing the decennial census of population and housing.
