May 19 is National Asian and Pacific Islander (API) HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. The Banyan Tree Project –a national campaign to fight HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination in API communities—is the lead for this day.

The Town Hall is the Alliance’s regular monthly gathering of artists and arts workers. Taking place the first Tuesday of every month, from 10am to 12pm, the Town Hall is a lively forum for people to announce news, learn about opportunities, and meet each other. Participants are invited to bring flyers and postcards, and to contribute food to the pot-luck buffet.
“Envisioning Justice: The Journey of a Transgendered Woman” tells the story of Pauline Park, tracing her life from her birth in Korea and her adoption by European American parents. In the summer of 2006, Park and filmmaker Larry Tung went back to the south side of Milwaukee to visit the house where she was raised, the first time that she had been inside her childhood home since 1981; they also visited the elementary school, junior high and high school that she attended in her youth.
