The reception will introduce faculty and staff to the Asian American / Asian Research Institute; our mission as a university-wide scholarly research and resource center that focuses on policies and issues that affect Asians and Asian Americans; and available professional development programs and research award opportunities.
The event was co-hosted by Aziz Amad, Chair of US Bangladesh Partners, a CUNY alumnus and recipient of AAARI’s First CUNY Distinguished Asian American Alumni Award. Mr. Ahmad spoke about business opportunities, investment incentives in Bangladesh, and introduced several US companies who are currently entering the Bangladesh market.
Join AAARI for a special reception for Chee Wang Ng’s 9/11 memorial installation, on display at the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, and two other locations.

Join AAARI as we welcome our first Thomas Tam Visiting Professor to the City University of New York, Dr. Paul Ong, from University of California, Los Angeles. The Tam Visiting Professor was created in honor of the late Dr. Thomas Tam, CUNY’s first Asian American member of the Board of Trustees, and AAARI’s co-founder and first Executive Director. Dr. Ong will spend the Fall 2010 semester at the CUNY Graduate Center instructing a new Sociology course, Critical Asian American Issues and Actionable Solutions.
