The Asian American Mentorship Providing Opportunities to Women for Empowerment and Resilience (AAMPOWER) at CUNY invites you to join us for an in-person bystander intervention training workshop, presented by Sakhi for South Asian Survivors.
The Asian American / Asian Research Institute’s CUNY Faculty Research Support Program is designed to support CUNY faculty to conduct research that seeks to answer critical questions about Asian American and Asian diasporic communities.
R. Benedito Ferrão is Associate Professor of English and Asian & Pacific Islander American Studies at William & Mary, with affiliations in Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. His honors include being named University Professor for Teaching Excellence (2025-28), the Jinlan Liu Award for Research in APIA Studies (2024-27), a Coco Faculty Fellowship (2026-27), a Fulbright-Nehru Research Award (2019-20), and fellowships with the American Institute of Indian Studies and the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence at Bayreuth.
Representing a truly global mosaic, the talented student writers and contributors are from across the CUNY system, drawing on their unique heritage and personal journeys from places such as Bangladesh, China, India, Iraq, Jamaica, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines to reflect on what it means to navigate multiple cultural worlds.

We invite students, scholars, organizers and artists from all backgrounds to submit proposals that investigate what the recent victory of Zohran Mamdani as mayor reveals about the future of Asian American identity, the intersection of class and race, and the evolving strategies of civic engagement in an increasingly polarized era.
