Job Op – South Asian American Communities Lecturer (UCLA)

The UCLA Asian American Studies Department is looking for a lecturer to co-teach a South Asian American Communities course in Winter Quarter 2024 with Manjusha Kulkarni, Executive Director of AAPI Equity Alliance and Co-Founder of Stop AAPI Hate.
 
Course Description: 
South Asians were the fastest-growing racial group in U.S. according to 2020 census. Yet South Asians still occupy precarious and constantly shifting space in the American racial landscape. Students ask and discuss a multitude of questions surrounding South Asian identity, experience, and community formation. Study incorporates readings from ethnic studies, law, and academic journals; guest speakers; documentaries and media clips; in-class discussion; and group projects to explore these questions. Additional outcomes include development of critical analytical, writing, speaking, and presentation skills.
 
Winter Quarter instruction: January 8th – March 22nd
25% time lecturer appointment
