Job Op – AAPI Investigators and Victim Services Staff (Manhattan District Attorney’s Office)

The Manhattan DA’s Office is continuing to target resources towards combatting hate crimes.  In order to serve the urgent needs of the AAPI community and enhance its cultural and linguistic competencies, the DA’s Office is actively recruiting qualified AAPI candidates to fill the job positions listed below:

  • AAPI Victim Services Specialist: The New York County District Attorney’s Office has an opening for an AAPI Victim Specialist in its Witness Aid Services Unit (WASU). In this position the AAPI Victim Specialist is responsible for providing counseling and therapeutic services to assist crime victims, witnesses, and their families. These services may include short term counseling, crisis intervention, community referrals, orientation to the criminal justice system, case status updates, and court support. Services will be provided in different office locations such as, the Main Office downtown, the Harlem Office and/or the Washington Heights Office. Candidates with fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese or Korean are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • AAPI Victim Services Advocate: The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for a Victim Services Advocate in its Witness Aid Services Unit (WASU) Victim Assistance Center. In this position the Victim Services Advocate will provide a full range of services to victims of crime. These services may include short term crisis intervention, community referrals, orientation to the criminal justice system, case status updates, and court support.  Services will be provided in different office locations, such as the Main Office downtown, the Harlem Office, and/or the Washington Heights office.  Candidates with fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese or Korean are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • AAPI Detective Investigator: The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has an opening for an Investigator in its Investigation Bureau. In this position, under supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the Investigator is responsible for conducting a wide variety of criminal investigations. This is a sworn police officer position. The candidate must meet all qualifications to be certified as a police officer on the NYS DCJS Police registry. This position requires you to have successfully completed police academy training in New York State and you are required to pass a mandatory background check to carry a firearm.  Candidates with fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese or Korean are strongly encouraged to apply.
