The Asian American / Asian Research Institute (AAARI) is looking to hire four undergraduate research assistants who will conduct a review of New York State history curriculum on the basis of its inclusion of Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) stories, narratives, and histories. Assistants will help with the production of a needs assessment report for New York State to advocate for a new AANHPI curricula, and will assist with the collection of data in intergenerational community Focus Groups.
Compensation:
- CUNY students will be compensated $15/hour for a maximum of 10 hours a week.
- Students would work a hybrid schedule with occasional in-person training, meetings, and focus group sessions at the AAARI office in midtown Manhattan.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A commitment to the idea of localized history, where history is drawn from local AANHPI populations that are often overshadowed or underrepresented even within broader AANHPI movements.
- A commitment to histories of solidarity, community, and collectivity, that uplift intersections of communities and draws connections to other BIPOC communities within the United States.
- Experience working with AANHPI community members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience conducting qualitative research or long-term projects
- Graphic Design, coding/website creation
