Call for Editors – “Asian American Voices” Journal (LaGuardia Community College/CUNY)

The Asian American Voices editorial board is looking for new members! If you are passionate about Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities at the City University of New York (CUNY) and want to support students in developing their work, we encourage you to apply.

Asian American Voices is a vibrant collection of literary and visual works created by students to honor Asian and Asian American heritages at CUNY. Our goal is to showcase the rich diversity of cultures, religions, histories, languages, festivals, and artistic talents within the Asian American community, as well as student work related to Asian American Studies. Launched in 2016 at LaGuardia Community College/CUNY, the journal is now expanding to include the work of all CUNY undergraduate/graduate students, with support from the Asian American / Asian Research Institute (AAARI).

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Solicit, review, and provide feedback on two to four student submissions each semester.
  • Attend at least two virtual editorial board meetings per semester.
  • Participate in the journal’s launch event in May.

Qualifications:

  • Be affiliated with the City University of New York.
  • Have a genuine interest in Asian and Asian American cultures and communities.
  • Be willing to work with students, including providing one-on-one support as needed.
  • Be involved with Asian or Asian American communities and/or scholarship.

How to Apply:
If you are interested, please submit a letter of interest (500 words) outlining your CUNY affiliation, your connection to Asian and Asian American cultures or communities, your scholarly work, and your reasons for wanting to join the editorial board. Additionally, explain how your involvement would benefit you personally and professionally.

Please send questions or applications to Malgorzata Marciniak at mmarciniak@lagcc.cuny.edu by February 28, 2025.
