CUNY SPH PhD candidate Thinh Vu selected for prestigious HIV/AIDS scholarship and mentorship
As a recipient of the Educational Fund Scholarship, Vu attended the AIDS 2024 conference in July in Germany with full support, including travel, accommodations, conference registration, IAS membership, and a daily living allowance. The conference serves as a global platform for accelerating progress towards ending the epidemic.

White House convenes leaders to address mental health disparities
Timed during National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, the event co-hosted by the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI), drew insights from federal initiatives and grassroots advocates alike. Prema Kurien Recognized as Syracuse University Maxwell School’s Daicoff Faculty Scholar
Prema Kurien, professor of sociology in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, has been recognized as a Daicoff Faculty Scholar. The distinction honors her achievements in research, scholarship and service. Dr. Kurien was a former CUNY Thomas Tam Visiting Professor.
Remembering Douglas Lee
The Association is saddened to announce that Dr. Douglas Lee passed away on May 24, 2024. He was the first Association for Asian American Studies president from 1979 to 1980.
