CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez yesterday co-hosted a roundtable dialogue with members of the University’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities alongside Joyce O. Moy, the longtime executive director of the Asian American and Asian Research Institute (AAARI) and other members of University’s leadership at the CUNY Central Office.
Around the country, thousands of K-12 teachers are signing up for training on the struggles and contributions of Asians Americans. Some are from California, where an upcoming ethnic studies requirement for graduation has schools looking to expand their offerings of Asian American history.

Denver next week will officially apologize for the anti-Chinese riot of 1880 to the Chinese American community. According to the city, it will become the first outside of California and the sixth overall to express remorse for anti-Chinese discrimination.
Max Sehaumpai, a junior pursuing a double major in applied mathematics and computer science, is the recipient of a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. He’s the sixth City College of New York undergraduate in seven years to be recognized nationally by the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation.
