Lawmakers in 33 states have introduced 81 bills this year that would prohibit the Chinese government, some China-based businesses and many Chinese citizens from buying agricultural land or property near military bases, according to a Washington Post analysis of data compiled by the Asian Pacific American Justice, an advocacy group.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in New York is still prosecuting many hate crime cases. As of August 2nd, 2023, there were 131 hate crime cases pending. About a third of them (41), were anti-Asian cases, said Hannah Yu, the hate crimes unit chief.
They’re America’s fastest-growing demographic, and they delivered a turnout jump in swing states that proved crucial to Joe Biden’s victory in 2020. Both parties have taken note.
Reporting to the Director of the Asian American Cultural Center, the primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the development, implementation and coordination of education programs, services and activities for the AACC that educate and promote a campus-wide understanding of Asian/Asian American cultures and that enhance Asian American and Asian international students’ experiences.
Specfiically, we seek a faculty member who maintains a focus on Vietnamese American diasporic community studies and whose research can inform the public’s urgent need to understand the origins and impacts of anti-Asian hate that has increased in recent years.
