The Institute of American Cultures offers in-residence appointments to support research on African Americans, American Indians, Asian Americans, and Chicanas/os. We especially encourage applications that advance our understanding of new social and cultural realities occasioned by the dramatic population shifts of recent decades, including greater heterogeneity within ethnic groups and increased interethnic contact.

The Center seeks interns with experience in communications, event-planning, media, and/or development to support our work. During this internship, development and communications interns will learn about the processes of how a think tank conveys complex policy research through a streamlined communication strategy.
Undergraduate students (and recent grads) who identify as Asian American or Pacific Islander (AAPI) are highly encouraged to apply. The 2023 internship program will be in-person. All interns must relocate to Washington, D.C. for the duration of the program and be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) has immediate openings for a Senior English-Mandarin/Cantonese Interpreter in its Language Services Unit. In this position, Senior Staff Interpreters are responsible for providing interpretation and translation support to DANY and overseeing the quality and consistency of DANY’s Language Services Unit.
