While the 1982 strike is little remembered today, organizers say it was the most significant collective action that immigrant Asian women in the U.S. have ever engaged in.
“The goal is to galvanize Asian Americans and allies across multiple issues, and educate folks about the issues that our communities face,” one organizer said.
After serving three years in the Undergraduate Student Government, President Iqura Naheed is set to graduate later this month from Brooklyn College.
