The report was part of a set of research published Wednesday to capture Asian Americans in economic hardship on a quantitative and qualitative scale. The project drew from focus groups, as well as census and survey data.
Council Member Julie Won (26th District) and LaGuardia Community College/CUNY President Kenneth Adams co-hosted an event on March 22 honoring nine women from the Queens community for their selfless dedication, commitment to community service, and hard work. The “Celebrating the Women of Queens” event is held annually during Women’s History Month.

In May 2021, the city of Antioch issued a formal apology for the mistreatment of early Chinese immigrants, including the torching of Chinatown and driving out its residents.
For one afternoon, on Antioch’s main street and tranquil riverbank, the fragrance of burning incense was paired with the sound of Buddhist and Tao chants. Their cumulative calming energy was meant to be a balm of sorts to soothe the racial and religious hate that cast a shadow on Antioch’s legacy.
