“Smart.” “Hard-working.” “Nice.” Those were among the adjectives respondents offered up in a recent poll when asked to describe Asian Americans. When John Jay College of Criminal Justice graduating senior and salutatorian Mia Anderton ’21 found out that she wouldn’t be able to study abroad due to the pandemic, she buckled down and set the ultimate challenge for herself: graduate a year early, earn a perfect 4.0, and double major in Forensic Psychology and Criminology.
These are not “random attacks on strangers,” they are attacks specifically aimed at Asian-Americans.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the application for the Excelsior Scholarship for new applicants for the 2021-22 academic school year is now open here.
