Robyn Rodriguez, professor of Asian American Studies at the university and founding director of its Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies, the only center for Filipino studies in the University of California system, created a self-paced, 10-hour course about the Asian American experience. It will go live on Friday with open enrollment ongoing.
In an editorial for the American Journal of Public Health, Associate Professor Emma Tsui and Mary Huynh of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene make recommendations for health departments and schools of public health to work more intentionally and vigorously to combat Anti–Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) racism.
Results found that Asians are arrested at higher rates under the EEA, yet they are less likely to be found guilty than defendants with Western surnames.
“Being part of a democracy is about having a voice,” one community advocate said. “The first step to that is recognizing that we exist.”
