AAARI’s fourth issue of CUNY FORUM is concerned with how Asian American Studies, as a radical education initiative begun forty-years ago, can become a “change-creator,” providing a counter narrative to what is already known or practiced. Here, East Coast scholars, activists, artists and institutions, through their work and research bring critical transcultural perspectives and uncommon meanings to both voice and practice.
This talk convenes participants to engage in thoughtful discussion and exchange perspectives on issues affecting Asian American communities, fostering deeper understanding and collective insight. It highlights community voices and shared experiences as foundations for dialogue and civic engagement.
This event brings together candidates vying to represent New York State Assembly District 65 to discuss key local concerns such as affordable housing, healthcare, small businesses, and education, offering the community a chance to hear directly from those seeking office and compare their policy positions.
Since 2004, the CUNY Asian American Film Festival (AAFF), presented by the Asian American / Asian Research Institute (AAARI), has recognized and awarded student filmmakers enrolled at the City University of New York, including City College, Brooklyn College, Hunter College, Lehman College, College of Staten Island, and Queens College.
The Thomas Tam Scholarship is funded by an endowment established by the City University of New York in recognition of Dr. Thomas Tam’s contributions as a former member of the CUNY Board of Trustees, founding Executive Director of the Asian American / Asian Research Institute, and leadership in the Asian American community.
