AAARI Hiro Murai took away the top prize for directing in a comedy series at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards Monday night, becoming the first Asian director to do so in this category and just the third Asian director overall.

The Southeast Asia Research Group (SEAREG) is launching a Postdoctoral Fellowship program that will begin in the summer of 2027 with one Fellow holding a 12-month position at one of four partner institutions located in Southeast Asia.
SUNY/CUNY Southeast Asia Consortium annually awards a small number of fieldwork grants for faculty, and pre-dissertation/dissertation research grants (which may include language training) for graduate students, and separately approximately five grants to support faculty publishing related to Southeast Asia and Southeast Asians, including in the diaspora.
