Six CUNY Graduate Center scholars are among the 10 winners of CUNY awards that recognize early-career faculty members for outstanding research.
Khan was among the 441 applicants selected from a pool of more than 5,000 college students across the U.S. for the scholarship, which is awarded by the Excellence in Education Foundation in honor of U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater’s legacy.
According to data from Unified Court System’s Judicial Demographics Report, an annual survey conducted since 2020 categorizing the demographics of New York judges, around 5 percent of respondents self-identified as Asian in 2024. In New York City, just under 11 percent of judges self-identified as Asian.
Scholars say the dissolution of WHIAANHIP is more than symbolic – that it will lead to diminished resources and attention for various issues and challenges that confront students from the demographic the initiative was meant to serve.

A new exhibition has opened at the New York State Capitol in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. The exhibit, titled “Resilience & Rights: AAPI Courage in the Face of Adversity,” will run through the end of May.
