Job Op – Child Care Associate Director of Accounting/Operations (BMCC Early Childhood Center)

Reporting to the Executive Director of BMCC Early Childhood Center (Center) this position has overall responsibilities for day-to-day human resources, grants, payroll, financial and accounting operations for the Center. Full-time position.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable New York City, New York State, Federal, GASB regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain Accounting/Financial control of the BMCC Child Care Center.
  • Prepare annual budget and present it to the Board of Directors, maintain and update budget in the accounting system. Prepare ad-hoc management reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Work closely with BMCC Controller to ensure all financial transactions are recorded following GASB in CUNYFirst system including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management and Journal Entries.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. Reconcile Credit Card Bill Monthly.
  • Track the funding limits for various grants. Process monthly invoices for Pre-K program.
  • Maintain schedules of Child Care claims and payments for Federal grants: CCAMPIS, CCDBG, and NYC grants UPK, CACFP, ACS. Prepare and submit reports to various NYC, NYS, and Federal agencies on use of grant funds. Examples: CCAMPIS APR report, Accreditation fiscal report for NAEYC. Creating budgets to obtain CCDBG and CCAMPIS funding.
  • Maintain employee’s Human Resources files, including benefits, process bi-weekly payroll with ADP online. Maintain time and leave records for all teaching staff and consultants.
  • Meet all requirements set forth for audits. Prepare Financial Statements, variance analyses, prepare audit schedules and liaise with audit personnel during annual Financial Statements audits and audits performed by various funding agencies.
  • Complete all fiscal reports and work with the Executive Director and College fiscal team to ensure all required reports are completed in a timely manner.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and three or more years of accounting experience preferably in early childcare and education; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word; and strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with various childcare funding streams.
  • Flexibility with work schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with several departments to meet the mission and goals of the program.
  • Willingness to learn fiscal and other regulatory guidelines for programmatic needs.
  • Familiarity with CUNYFirst/PeopleSoft and experience with ADP payroll is big plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
