Voices Rising: What’s Next for Asian Americans in the Arts?

Thursday, May 9, 2024 | 7pm to 8:30pm

CUNY Graduate Center – Elebash Recital Hall
365 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan

The recent surge in anti-Asian hate has been met with an unprecedented celebration of Asian American creators at the highest levels on the national stage. From the success of television shows like the 3 Body Problem, documentaries, and films to best-selling books and graphic novels by artists of Asian descent, Asian Americans in the post-pandemic era are drawing themselves and their stories into existence more than ever, using art as a form of representation and resistance.

In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and during a pivotal moment for Asian American representation in the arts, The WNET Group’s ALL ARTS and Exploring Hate initiatives team up with The Serica Initiative to proudly present “Voices Rising: What’s Next for Asian Americans in the Arts?” A panel of celebrated Asian American artists will discuss where we are post-pandemic, how to keep the momentum going, and what’s next for the Asian American artist community, in a live, recorded discussion followed by artistic performances.

“Voices Rising” seeks to explore the impact of these achievements and the future of Asian Americans in the arts.
