2024 Internship (Chinese American Medical Society)

CAMS Internship (Unpaid)

Start Date: Immediate Opening 

About CAMS: The Chinese American Medical Society (CAMS) is a non-profit, charitable, educational, and scientific organization committed to education and community service. Established in 1963, it is the oldest and now one of the largest and most successful national Chinese American medical societies in North America with regional chapters in Boston and Albany and over 1,300 members.  The officers and the trustees of the governing board are leading physicians in the New York metropolitan area who volunteer their services to CAMS.  

Internship Introduction: We are seeking enthusiastic college/graduate students who are interested in pursuing medicine, nursing, social work or community health, and representing Chinese Americans. The internship will provide the student with varying opportunities including ability to attend annual conferences, networking with leading healthcare providers, aid in local events in the New York metropolitan area and provide insight on medicine beyond the clinic. This is a great extracurricular for medical school applications. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist administrators/physicians with events and projects that serve local community based objectives and educational means.
  • Connect and collaborate with hospitals, pharmacies, non-profits to deliver effective medical education and resources for both communities and providers.
  • Deliver studious and artistic input for promotional and technical standards of projects/events.

Qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate or graduate student, interested in pursuing medicine/pre-medical track, nursing or in community health care. 
  • Able to utilize varying technologies: Google Workspace, Canvas, Zoom, etc. 
  • Someone who is able to communicate effectively and professionally with different parties and individuals. 
  • Able to accommodate time to attend/host meetings and events, daytime or evenings, flexible.
  • Bonus qualification: ability to speak Cantonese and/or Mandarin a plus but not a must. 
Notes:
  • This is an Unpaid Internship.  The Intern will learn a lot about medical knowledge, administration and operations from the Chinese American Medical Society and Program Committee activities.
  • Start Date:  Immediate Opening.
  • Hours:  Flexible.  Some evening hours a must.
  • Excellent opportunity to work on the planning, implementation and execution of the biennial medical scientifc conference on North American Chinese health, scheduled for November 2nd – 3rd, 2024 to be held in Manhattan and Queens.
