Winner: Smiling Eyes – Sheauyunn Soo  (Brooklyn College)
Runner-up: The Hole in the Sky – Takeshi Fukunaga (Brooklyn College)
Honorable Mention: Broadway Bound – Bandar Albuliwi (Brooklyn College)

Documentary Film

Winner: Portrait of a Terra Cotta Artist – Michal Shilo (Brooklyn College)


Objective: In order to promote the artistic visual talents, and to stimulate communication among CUNY students who are separated by the different campuses spread across the five boroughs, the CUNY Asian American Film Festival was created to provide a central location to display their creative works, and to network among colleagues involved in the same field of study.

Winner ($200) and runner-up prize ($100) awarded for each category:

  1. Fiction
  2. Documentary
  3. Experimental
  4. Music Video (New Category)

On the evening of the festival, winners will be awarded in the following four categories: Documentary; Fiction; Experimental; and Music Video. Winning films will be screened after the award ceremony, and then followed by a Questions and Answers session with the winners.
