Mapping of Asian Americans in New York has invited a two panelists to share their experiences in reporting Ethnic Media.
Speakers:
- Joe Wei, managing and national desk editor of the World Journal, which is the largest Chinese-language newspaper in U.S. and Canada. Mr. Wei has covered the Chinese American community since the 1980s and is a keen observer of the dramatic transformation of the Chinese American community in recent decades. With that knowledge, Mr. Wei is constantly trying to improve the quality of news coverage and extend of the outreach to the community.
- Angelo Falcón started the Institute for Puerto Rican Policy (IPR) in New York City in the early 1980s, a nonprofit and nonpartisan policy center that focuses on Latino issues in the United States. It is now known as the National Institute for Latino Policy and serves as its current President. Despite the Institute small size, it has developed a national reputation as one of the most innovative policy centers addressing Latino issues in the country. In 2006, Falcón created the Latino Policy Network (currently called The NiLPNetwork) to diffuse policy and political information of importance to the Latino community online. It has become the most influential online community of Latino political civic and academic leaders in the United States.
