Born in Alexandria, Egypt, Morris Rossabi has written or edited 29 books, including Khubilai Khan, Modern Mongolia, China and the Uyghurs, Voyager from Xanadu, China among Equals, and Governing China's Multi-Ethnic Frontiers. He has contributed chapters to the Cambridge History of China, the Cambridge History of the Mongolian Empire, and the Cambridge History of War and has collaborated on exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Asian Art Museum. In 2009, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the National University of Mongolia.
