Jinzhong Niu, Associate Professor of Information Technology, holds a B.S. from Shandong University (China), an M.Eng. from Beihang University (China), and a Ph.D. from the the CUNY Graduate School and University Center. His research interests lie between computer science and economics, focusing on agent-based computational economics and market-based control. He previously held research positions at Lenovo Research, Yahoo!, University of Birmingham (UK), University of Essex (UK), and the City College of New York.

He has served on over ten conference and workshop program committees and co-organized the Trading Agent Competition on Market Design. He has published one book and more than 20 journal and conference papers at top agent research venues. He is zealous in building software tools for research. He is the architect of JCAT, an open-source software package for simulating double-sided auctions, and of OOPN-IDE, an object-oriented Petri net-based integrated development environment for concurrent software.
