John J. Chin, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Urban Policy and Planning at Hunter College, City University of New York. He is also the Principal Investigator for the Hunter College AANAPISI Project (HCAP), which is funded by two federal grants from the US Department of Education. He has conducted research funded by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), which has examined the role of immigrant-led community institutions in delivering HIV prevention and stigma-reduction messages, and also HIV risk, working conditions, and experiences with law enforcement for Asian immigrant women working in sexually oriented massage parlors in New York City and Los Angeles County (with Lois Takahashi, University of Southern California). He was recently a member of the NIH Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council and is currently the chair of the National Advisory Committee for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Health Policy Research Scholars Program.
