2024 CUNY Asian American Film Festival

Submission Deadline: Monday, April 29, 2024

Submitter must be a currently enrolled or recently graduated CUNY student. (Copy of CUNY College ID and current semester’s class schedule, or proof of recent graduation Spring/Fall 2023 is required.)

Film must satisfy any one of the following criteria:

  • Production exclusively or majority-produced by CUNY personnel involving at least one Asian CUNY personnel in a key position, e.g. Director, Writer, or Editor
  • Contains an Asian American / Asian theme or narrative

Form must be submitted no later than 5pm EST on Monday, April 29, 2024. Anything received afterwards will not be accepted. In the event of a submission deadline extension, you may submit an updated version of your film for consideration.

Your film must meet the following requirements:

  • Film length is limited to 30 mins, minimum 5 mins (not a hard-set limit)
  • 30 second film trailer (not a set limit)
  • Film and trailer must be in downloadable .mp4 format
  • (H.264, 4:3 or 16.9 ratio, 256kps AAC)
  • Film must include the following title slates:
    1. Five Second Black Video
    2. 2024 CUNY Asian American Film Festival, Title of Film, Category, Running Time, Full Name, Your Production Role
    3. Front or end credits of all individuals who worked on the film

(We reserve the rights to reject the screening of film if it does not meet any of the requirements.)

Submitter, or their authorized representative, must be available to attend the Film Festival, or else they will forfeit their cash award.

Please upload a copy of your CUNY College I.D and  current class schedule from CUNYfirst (official transcript not necessary).

APPLICANT CERTIFICATION: I hereby give AAARI and CUNY AAFF permission to screen my film at the CUNY Asian American Film Festival, on AAARI’s website, YouTube channel, promotional materials/publications, and other media outlets (e.g. Asian American International Film Festival), and the applicant will be credited accordingly. I also understand that screened film at the CUNY AAFF does not mean an award will be received (or screened at other media outlets), as only films that scored a certain threshold will be awarded. By entering my name below, I indicate my consent to the terms and conditions for the exhibition of my film by AAARI and CUNY AAFF.
