Unmasking Racial Trauma: Exploring the Unspoken Impact on Asian and Asian American Well-being

Dec/11/2023 at 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Dr. Lisa Suzuki‘s lab is working to understand the impact of race-based trauma in the Asian American community and plans to share the scholarship through a research and community panel discussion workshop. This discussion workshop aims to bring together mental health trainees and professionals that support A/P/A populations in New York City to (1) share their insights on the presence of racial trauma in the Asian/Asian Am community (i.e., how it manifests, is acknowledged or experienced), (2) culturally tailored assessment tools for assessing racial trauma in the context of mental health, and (3) discuss future directions or needs in understanding how to effectively support Asian/Asian Am community mental health who experience racial trauma.

The diverse speakers/collaborators will bring expertise from institutions including, NYU, Hamilton-Madison House, The Child Center of NY, Asian Mental Health Collective, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, University of Alberta, and Different Roads To Learning.

Kindly adhere to our stringent NYU security clearance policy by confirming your attendance. Please RSVP to hk2851@nyu.edu with your full name by 11/27 at 5:00 pm ET.
