Protecting Access to the Ballot: Legal Responses to ICE at the Polls

OCA  will participate in the final session of Democracy 2025’s Election Briefing Series, Protecting Access to the Ballot: Legal Responses to ICE at the Polls, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. ET.

OCA Executive Director Thu Nguyen will join our legal team and co-plaintiffs to discuss the presence of federal immigration enforcement agents at or near polling places, ongoing legal challenges, and efforts to protect access to the ballot ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The briefing will bring together experts from Common Cause, Democracy Forward, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the Legal Defense Fund, Public Rights Project, and the Election Safeguards Response Network to discuss emerging threats to elections, current legal responses, and how partners can work together to protect voters. Building on a previous session about the intersection of elections and immigration enforcement, the discussion will also provide updates on recent legal challenges involving the Trump-Vance administration’s election-related policies.
