How Is AI Changing the Practice of Investment Management?

Oct 13 at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

AI is narrowing the gap between professional and individual investors. Work that once took hours for an analyst can be done in minutes by an individual investor using an AI tool—summarizing an earnings call, comparing a company’s latest 10-Q to prior filings, or flagging changes in risk disclosures. But better tools don’t automatically produce better decisions. Will AI make it easier for investors to act on rumors, flawed analysis, or conclusions they don’t fully understand? If everyone is using the same tools, does the edge simply shift to those with better data, faster execution, or the judgment to know when the AI is wrong? What should investors of every kind be considering? Larry Zicklin (BBA, ’57) leads this timely discussion with the Zicklin School’s Lin Peng (left), Krell Chair Professor of Finance, and Dexin Zhou (right), Associate Professor of Finance (Bert W. Wasserman Department of Economics and Finance). Introduction by Dean Bruce Weber and Q&A moderated by Associate Dean Gwendolyn Webb.
