On September 9, 1924, 16 Filipino plantation workers and 4 law enforcement officers were killed during the Hanapēpē Labor Strike in Kauaʻi, becoming known as the Hanapēpē Massacre. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Hanapēpē Massacre.
