Exhibition – Sống: Photographs by Ocean Vuong

Displaying 47 photographs spanning nearly 20 years of Vuong’s photography, Sống: Photographs by Ocean Vuongopens in a new tab is his first visual arts exhibition in New York City. This installation presents Vuong’s printed and framed photography works, many of which have never been exhibited before. Through the camera lens gaze, Vuong’s images animate Sống, which means “to live” in Vietnamese, by documenting moments of grief, everyday life, labor in nail salons, and his evolving relationship with his younger brother, Nicky.
To complement the exhibition, Vuong, a professor in NYU’s Creative Writing Program, will be in conversation with photographer Tommy Kha on December 3 with a book signing to follow.
