Stella Dong

Stella Dong is a New York-journalist and historian. In addition to "Shanghai: The Rise and Fall of a Decadent City," Dong has written "Shanghai: Gateway to the Celestial Empire, 1860-1949" and "Sun Yat-sen: Enigmatic Revolutionary," both published by Hong Kong's FormAsia Books. As a journalist, her articles have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Travel and Leisure, Harper's Bazaar and other national and international publications. Curently, she writes the "Behind the Bestsellers" column for Hong Kong's South China Morning Post newspaper. She is a Chinese-American born in Seattle, Washington and a graduate of Wellesley College and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
