Nov/12/2025 at 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM

After this unprecedented mayoral election, won by Zohran Mamdani, what does the outcome mean for New York City? An expert panel discusses the results and how they will shape the direction of government policies, the future of the political parties, and the sense of belonging for different groups around the five boroughs. How will the coalitions and divisions revealed by this election change the city’s political landscape? Featuring Sayu Bhojwani, former NYC commissioner for immigrant affairs, TED speaker, and author of People Like Us: The New Wave of Candidates Knocking at Democracy’s Door; New York State Senator John Liu, chairman of the New York City Education Committee; Hank Sheinkopf, a veteran of political campaigns in New York City and beyond, who is an alumnus of the CUNY Graduate Center’s Ph.D. Program in Political Science; NYC Council Member Nantasha Williams, an alumna of the CUNY Graduate Center’s Ph.D. Program in Social Welfare who represents District 27 in Southeast Queens; and others. John Mollenkopf, distinguished professor of Political Science and Sociology and director of the Center for Urban Research at the CUNY Graduate Center, moderates.
