Ayad Akhtar and Mohsin Hamid talk with Parul Sehgal: Reflecting Our World

  •  Ayad Akhtar is a novelist and a playwright. He is the author of the novels “Homeland Elegies,” one of the New York Times’ Ten Best Books of 2020, and “American Dervish,” which has been published in more than twenty languages. His plays include “Junk,” which won the Kennedy Prize for American Drama; “Disgraced,” which won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama; and “The Invisible Hand,” which won an OBIE Award.
  • Mohsin Hamid is the author of five novels, including “The Last White Man,” “Exit West,” and “The Reluctant Fundamentalist,” as well as an essay collection, “Discontent and Its Civilizations.” His books have been translated into more than forty languages.
  • Parul Sehgal is a staff writer at The New Yorker.
