Professional Development Workshop: Integrating APIDA in Your Everyday Teaching

Sep 10 at 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Join the Asian American Education Project for a live, virtual workshop that will teach educators of all subjects how to seamlessly integrate APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) history into their everyday teaching. Educators will understand the importance of spotlighting APIDA figures and historical moments in their classroom all year round, not just during Lunar New Year and in May (which is APIDA Heritage Month). In this workshop, participants will learn various teaching strategies as well as key historical figures and events such as Angel Island, Tape v. Hurley, Southeast Asian Refugees, Lue Gim Gong and the Citrus Industry, the Native Hawaiian Sovereignty Movement, and more!

This workshop is free for educators and will take place virtually. It will be facilitated by Paula Katrina Camaya. Paula Katrina Camaya is a Filipina American educator based in Chicago, Illinois.
