Human Rights Summit

Dec/14/2023 at 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

New York City is home to one of the strongest civil rights laws in the nation prohibiting discrimination against over 25 protected categories across almost every aspect of life: housing, employment, and public spaces.

The city’s Commission on Human Rights, the agency that enforces New York City’s Human Rights Law and strives to prevent discrimination, will be hosting the inaugural Human Rights Summit on December 14th from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the National Museum of the American Indian.

Beginning with remarks from Commissioner and Chair, Annabel Palma throughout the day attendees will gain insight into the Commission’s enforcement process, will learn in depth about how the city combats bias and hate, and will be offered the opportunity to take one of two Commission-led workshops. These workshops will focus various protections under the Law such as Human Rights Law 101 and Reasonable Accommodations for People with Disabilities.

This summit will be an opportunity for New Yorkers to learn about the Commission’s work and the kinds of resources the agency provides. Attend the Human Rights Summit and become a partner as we foster a city where everyone can live, work, and thrive free from discrimination.
