Lucky – A Novel

Author Henry Chang will discuss and read from his latest novel, Lucky, the fifth book in his Detective Jack Yu crime fiction series.

About Lucky
Chinatown gang leader “Lucky” Louie is shot outside of a Chinatown off track betting establishment on the thirteenth of January, laying in a coma for 88 days, and awakens on Easter Sunday. The number 88 is a double-helix, double-lucky Chinese number; religion and superstition all lean Lucky’s way. But NYPD Detective Jack Yu, Lucky’s boyhood blood brother, fears his friend’s luck is about to run out. When Lucky embarks on a complex and daring series of crimes against the Chinatown criminal underground, Jack races to stop him before his enemies do so – permanently.

Author Bio

Henry Chang a graduate of The City College of New York/CUNY with a B.A. in Liberal Arts. He is a native son of New York City's Chinatown and Lower East Side. His poems have appeared in the seminal Yellow Pearl anthology, in Gangs of New York's Chinatown, and The Lineup. He is the crime mystery author of the acclaimed Chinese-American NYPD Detective Jack Yu series -- Chinatown Beat (2006), Year of The Dog (2008), Red Jade (2010), Death Money (2014), and Lucky (2017) -- published by Soho Press Inc./Soho Crime. His short stories appeared in Murdaland (2007 Mug Shot Press), and Asian Pulp (2015 Pro Se Press).
