Asian American Life is looking for a segment producer for our monthly news magazine show at CUNY TV in New York City. This is a part-time job of 24 hours per week. Candidate must be flexible to work remote from home and in-person at the office. There are opportunities to report on-camera.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Develop, research, book guests, write and report on segments about Asian American communities and leaders, both locally and nationwide. Take part in editorial meetings and pitch story ideas for monthly show.
- Book crew and field produce segments in the NYC tri-state area.
- Write scripts for 3 to 6 minutes feature stories. Track scripts in audio booth.
- Work closely with editor. Find compelling and creative visuals for segment including video, photos, graphics, music and sound.
- Contribute to social media postings on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong research skills and knowledge of Asian American issues, communities, current affairs and trends.
- Experience booking guests, including high profile guests and celebrities
- Strong development, research and planning skills of original stories
- Broadcast writing and reporting skills
- Experience in broadcast journalism in either cable, local, network or website news.
- Broadcast story telling skills using visuals, graphics, music and sound
- Proficient in shooting and editing is preferred.
- Social media savvy, including finding new ways to promote your story on the internet
