In her lifetime\, Cha contributed to experimental art scenes in New York City\, San Francisco\, Paris\, and beyond. Her work has had a quietly profound influence on subsequent generations of artists.

DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to bring Mustache\, the 2023 SXSW Audience Award winner for Narrative Feature\, to the Queens community! \n​Written and directed by Imran J. Khan\, Mustache is a heartfelt and funny Muslim and South Asian coming of age story set in the mid 90s. The film follows 13 year old Pakistani American Ilyas as he leaves his Islamic private school and enters public school\, navigating family\, faith\, fitting in\, and the awkwardness of growing up\, all while dealing with an inescapable mustache. \n​With Riz Ahmed\, Hasan Minhaj\, and Ramy Youssef among the film’s executive producers\, this is a story that felt especially meaningful for us to bring to Queens and our community. \n​Following the screening\, we’ll host a virtual Q+A with Imran Khan moderated by Jenni Loo and Humza Sohail\, with panelists to be announced closer to the date.

The fourth and final film of eccentric filmmaker Donald Cammell\, best known for his brilliant 1970 debut Performance co-directed with Nic Roeg\, Wild Side was butchered by studio interference\, re-cut and taken away from Cammell who subsequently took his own life. A provocative\, erotic neo-noir starring Christopher Walken in one of his most over-the-top performances\, Wild Side indulges in a rapacious world of power\, sex\, crime and money. Walken’s paranoid Bruno\, a notorious money launderer\, is the subject of an undercover sting operation that pulls in Anne Heche’s banker-turned-high-class prostitute\, who in turn becomes enraptured with Bruno’s elegant wife (Joan Chen). Painstakingly re-cut by Cammell’s widow and longtime editor using Cammell’s notes and a personal cut\, this posthumous director’s cut restores much of its original vision: its humor\, avant garde leanings and non-linear plotting\, along with a new score by Ryuichi Sakamoto.
