DESCRIPTION:We are excited to present A Story That Lives Within US: Ada — Volume II\, a multidisciplinary group exhibition featuring 17 artists that explores the stories\, memories\, and lived experiences of Taiwanese immigrants in the United States. \nOpening on August 13\, 2026\, at Crossing Art in Chelsea\, New York\, the exhibition brings together contemporary art\, oral histories\, and written narratives to explore migration\, identity\, belonging\, and cultural heritage. \nVolume II focuses on New York City during the 1980s and 1990s\, reflecting the challenges\, transformations\, and resilience of immigrant communities. Through the symbolic journey of Ada Lin\, the exhibition connects personal memories with the evolving history of the city\, creating a space where immigrant stories are preserved and shared across generations. \nThroughout the exhibition\, we will also present public programs and hands-on workshops. This series gathers together Japanese summer films spanning seven decades and many of the greatest filmmakers in the nation’s history. From postwar masters (Kurosawa\, Ozu) to New Wave iconoclasts (Oshima)\, ‘80s upstarts (Somai\, Obayashi\, and Morita)\, ‘90s icons (Kitano\, Iwai\, and Aoyama)\, and contemporary auteurs (Hosoda and Matsumoto)\, behold the beauty and sadness of the summer.

SUMMARY:20th Annual OCA-NY Hate Crimes Prevention Art Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:For two decades\, OCA-NY\, in collaboration with local youth organizations\, has organized the annual Hate Crimes Prevention Project (HCPP)\, held every summer in New York City. HCPP is a multicultural project that seeks to spread an awareness of hate crimes prevention\, promote cross cultural awareness\, engage high school students in hate crimes prevention\, and use art as an activism tool by recruiting student interns to coordinate\, develop\, and host an annual art competition for their peers across the city.  \nCome attend the exhibition based on this year’s theme: gentrification and housing. \nExhibit Hours: 12pm to 5pm\, on Aug 14\, 15\, 16\, 19\, 22\, 23 & 24

At MOCA\, mahjong has long been more than a game. It is a way to bring people together through culture\, conversation\, and shared experiences. \nJoin us this summer for a lively evening of friendly competition\, community building\, and fun. Whether you are a seasoned player\, a casual enthusiast\, or completely new to the game\, you will find a welcoming table waiting for you. Experienced players can jump right into open play\, while beginners are invited to learn the fundamentals through hands on instruction in a supportive and relaxed environment. . On August 20\, instructor Sokie Lee leads an evening of Hong Kong Mahjong. Both are among the most widely played variations of the game and offer players the opportunity to experience distinct traditions\, strategies\, and styles of play. \nPull up a chair\, gather around the table\, sip on a beer or glass of wine\, and enjoy a summer evening at MOCA filled with lively play\, cultural connection\, and good company. \nSokie Lee is passionate about promoting Hong Kong Mahjong and making the game accessible to everyone. She has introduced countless beginners to Chinese Mahjong\, helping new players learn and play within 15 minutes. Sokie initiated the popular Mahjong Game Nights at the Museum of Chinese in America and has led workshops for Mastercard\, JPMorgan Chase\, W. W. Norton & Company\, NBC Universal\, and Blackstone. She has also partnered with Potluck Asian America\, Pearl River Mart and Think!Chinatown to bring Mahjong to diverse communities. Besides being a Mahjong educator\, Sokie is a New York State–licensed massage therapist\, Tai Chi and Qigong instructor\, and avid table tennis player.
