Colorful characters offer clues in a “Looney Tunes” whodunit that combines standup comedy\, musical theatre\, dance\, opera\, and puppetry. Featuring artists and collectives across a wide range of artistic media\, LEGENDS examines how artists of Asian descent engage with the shared language of art and sport to reflect identity\, nationalism\, the body\, and performance.  \nThe first exhibition to specifically focus on the relationship between art and sports within contemporary Asian and Asian American art\, LEGENDS will debut works by The Chinatown Basketball Club\, Kaarina Chu Mackenzie\, and Astria Suparak.

This interactive session will explore the pivotal role Asian Americans have played in shaping U.S. history\, particularly in the realm of citizenship and immigration. Participants will delve into the landmark case of United States v. Wong Kim Ark\, which secured birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment. The workshop will also highlight the powerful story of Tereza Lee\, often recognized as the first “DREAMer\,” whose experience helped ignite a national conversation on undocumented youth and immigration reform. Educators will leave with a deeper understanding of these narratives as well as ready-to-use lesson plans and classroom materials. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
