In celebration of their Centennial\, SummerStage brings two takes on the future sounds of Chinese pop to Central Park. The K-pop boy band NCT is so massive that it’s become its own ecosystem\, spinning off members into their own sub-groups that establish their own voice. WayV are the fourth such to spin off—and its first China-based collective—recording pop songs that fuse hip-hop and dance with R&B-stylized vocals sung in Mandarin since their 2019 debut EP The Vision. They’re joined by THE EITHER\, formed in New York in 2017. Their sound — Post-Orientalism — rebuilds Eastern elements for today\, blending electrified traditional instruments\, Chinese opera-inspired vocals\, progressive rock energy\, and compositions with a strong Eastern melodic identity into a bold\, future-facing performance. \n The Member RSVP Deadline for WayV (8/2) is Friday\, 7/31 @ 6pm. Memberships bought the day of a show do not guarantee entry — RSVP confirmation required.\n  \nEntry FAQ for WayV / The Either / Chopstix\n  \nWill there be a ticketed/wristbanding system for entry?\nAs with all SummerStage free events\, entry will be first-come first-serve. Dr. Radics will discuss his new book\, Emotional Filipinos The American Myth of the Lazy Native and Islamic Separatism in the Philippines. \nAbout the Book: \nEmotional Filipinos documents how in the first half of the twentieth century\, the United States attempted to build a colony in the Philippines in its own image—one fraught with racist notions of what it means to be civilized\, developed\, and worthy of self-rule. I argue that these imported notions of race and modernity left a profound imprint on the nation. Moreover\, with the menacing rise of Islamic “terrorism\,” political polarization\, populism\, xenophobia\, and isolationism\, conventional wisdom has attributed this rise to a “failed state” or economic insecurity and cultural backlash. In this book\, I explore emotions as a driving force behind social action. The Philippines is currently experiencing the longest-running Muslim-Christian conflict in the modern world and an increasingly anti-Western populist government. By unpacking the role of emotions from the American colonial period to the present\, my book blurs the line between American colonizer and Muslim-Filipino “terrorist\,” highlighting the lasting effects of America’s footprint in Southeast Asia.  My book is the culmination of over two decades of engagement with the Philippines and its southern islands of Mindanao.  It provides an analytical sociology of race and emotion lens\, borne out of the Global South\, to study other emerging conflicts throughout the world. \nTo hear more about the book\, listen to Dr. Radics’s podcast episode with the New Books Network\, a NYSEAN Partner. \nAbout the Speaker: \nGeorge B. DESCRIPTION:Overview\n\n\nCommittee of 100 Asian American Career Ceilings August 26\, 2026 from 6 pm ET to 7:15 pm ET \n  \nThe Committee of 100 Asian American Career Ceilings Initiative \n\n\n\n\n\n“An Advice and Networking Event (Technology)” \nAugust 26\, 2026 from 6 pm ET to 7:15 pm ET \n\nWe are pleased to invite you to the 60th event organized by the Committee of 100 Asian American Career Ceilings Initiative. This virtual event will enable Asian Americans who are in the early to mid-stages of their careers to get valuable advice from experienced and successful Asian Americans in the technology industry. We have been holding this event for different professions in the past and will continue to do so in the future. \nWe will start with welcoming comments and introduction to the advisors\, followed by virtual breakout rooms where the experienced Asian American advisors will host individual breakout rooms that attendees can join. The attendees will have a list of the experienced advisors in advance and will be able to choose which breakout rooms they want to visit to get career advice and to ask questions. The attendees will be able to move from room to room as they wish. \nThis will be a unique opportunity to explore career paths in the technology profession with experienced industry executives. Discussions will be frank and informative as each breakout room host will answer your questions and share personal insights and their stories about successful careers in technology. \nWe hope this event will help those of you who are getting ready to start your careers or who are at junior or mid-level levels of your organization.
