SUMMARY:Community Webinar - NYS Language Access Rights and Resources
DESCRIPTION:The New York State Office of Language Access (OLA) works to ensure meaningful language access in government services and programs for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). OLA supports state agencies in complying with language access laws\, develops resources and training\, and promotes equitable access to critical information and services for all New Yorkers. Roughly 42% of AAPI New Yorkers are limited English proficient\, which affects their ability to participate in community health programs and continue receiving the health care they need. Interpretation services and other language access materials are essential for community-based organizations to ensure that their service delivery is linguistically responsive to the communities they serve. \nDuring our webinar\, participants will: \n\n\nLearn about language access rights under NYS law \n\n\nExplore resources developed by OLA available to support AAPI LEP New Yorkers \n\n\n\n\nWe’re excited to share more about piloting OLA’s simultaneous interpretation kits  \n\n\n\n\nParticipate in Q&A with the OLA team
