Three women from CUNY’s faculty have won prestigious Guggenheim Fellowships in recognition of their groundbreaking contributions to the arts and humanities. This year’s CUNY Guggenheim fellows are interdisciplinary artist Bang-Guel Han and philosophy scholar Barbara Montero, both of the College of Staten Island, and art historian Claire Bishop, of the CUNY Graduate Center.

Vivian Chavez earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC/CUNY) in December 2023, and will cross the BMCC commencement stage in June 2024.
Yingshihan Zhu, an adjunct in the Philosophy Department at the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, won for her essay, “The Moral Obligation of the Privileged to Resist Complacency about Their Own Oppression.”
