Film / Media Festival

Place: CUNY Graduate Center - Martin Segal Theatre
365 5th Avenue (Corner of 34th Street), Manhattan

Festival Objective: To promote the talents of CUNY students and to provide a central location to display their work.  The festival will encourage networking among students that are separated by the different CUNY campuses.  One of the missions of the Asian American / Asian Research Institute is to become an intellectual and cultural center for New York's diverse Asian American community.

Prize Awards

First Prize ($200), Runner-Up ($100)
*For Each Personal & Documentary Film Category

First Prize $100, Runner-Up (2 Movie Tix + Popcorn)
*For Open Competition Film Category

All film or media submissions will be reviewed by our distinguished panel of judges, who will render a decision as to who will take home the top prizes for each category on the night of the festival.

Personal Film

  • Runner-up: The Theory of Pleasurable Constipation - Min Kuen Choi (Brooklyn College)

Documentary Film

  • Winner: Manthan: The Churning - Shalini Kantayya (City College)
  • Runner-up: Kaduma - Alan Raquel (City College)

Open Competition Film

  • Winner: No Light, Big City - Rioma Kam, Winsie Tow & Juliet Cullen (Immigrant Social Services, Inc.)
  • Runner-up: Learning Chinese: The Story of Ting He - Yan Lin (Seward Park High School)
