Breath of Light:
Creating Modern Korean Dance

by Sitta Sim

[November 13, 2009]

Prof. Sitta Sim will give a presentation and demonstration on modern Korean dance fused with traditional elements:

My dance emulates natural instinct of all living beings whom longing for the primordial light of universe. The light of beginning goes beyond time and space and also brings freedom to body and soul. My choreography tries to create natural movements to set every cells of body free. The movements resonate wave and vibration to the life in the universe.

My dance philosophy is to create a positive energy through natural movement to bring peace of all living beings. Although I am heavily indebted to traditional Korean dance, recently, I devote myself to create whole new movements combining various ethno-choreography. My awakening as an artist came few years back and liberated me from presumptuous arrogance. Rather, I embrace the humility to mother-nature and attentively listen the whisper of light.

After years of trial, I now pursue a harmony between insuperable energy and life potentials through my dance. I truly believe the ultimate goal of my choreography should bring happiness to all living forces. Beyond esoteric achievement in pure art, I offer a therapy to body and soul through many movements that I have invented.
